Cruella Sunglasses for Charity Auction Stolen
A pair of Cruella sunglasses that were used in the movie has been stolen from a luxury eyewear store in London. The sunglasses were set to be auctioned off for charity now that filming had been wrapped up.
The Cruella sunglasses, along with many others, were stolen from the Tom Davies eyewear store in London’s Sloane Square. Media reports say the estimated value of eyewear stolen totaled about $700,000 (£500000). However, the Cruella sunglasses were expected to sell for a much higher value since they were to be used at a charity auction.
Both actresses Emma Thompson and Emma Stone wore specially-designed glasses on the movie set. The missing glasses have “TOME DAVIES FOR CRUELLA” engraved on the inside arm.
The store owners have released security footage of the burglary and have put up a series of posters across London hoping to locate the stolen sunglasses with the following statement:
“If you have the glasses in your possession, we will swap them for a pair of Tom Davies sunglasses […] Unless you’re one of the thieves, in which case we will happily hand you over to the authorities.”
The burglary was reported around 2:00 AM on Wednesday, June 9th. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson gave a statement to ABC News stating “Officers attended and it was reported that a quantity of sunglasses had been stolen by a group of men who had left before police arrived. Inquiries are ongoing; there have been no arrests.”
We hope that justice is served and the Cruella sunglasses find their way home so that funds can be raised for the intended charity.
