Which of the 4 Types of Disney World Tickets Are Best for You?
Are you thinking about traveling to Disney World? If so, you might be wondering which of the Disney World tickets is right for your family.
Disney offers four types of tickets, which can be bundled into a vacation package or purchased as standalone tickets.
It’s a lot to consider! Here’s a rundown of each one:
Base Tickets
Disney’s Park Pass Tickets, or Base Tickets, allow guests entry into one theme park per ticket day.
We think Base Tickets are perfect for the family that knows they plan to visit just one park on each of their ticket days.
For instance, maybe you want to go to Magic Kingdom on your first park day, followed by Hollywood Studios on your second park day, and so on. If that sounds like you, then we recommend opting for a Base Ticket.
Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to stay in that same park all day. You are welcome to exit for a midday break and return in the cooler, evening hours.
Additionally, you can visit the same theme park on multiple days. So, for example, if you know you plan to spend at least two days at Magic Kingdom, you can do that with a Base Ticket.
Remember, though: this is all subject to Park Pass availability. You must make Park Pass Reservations in advance as theme park tickets alone no longer guarantee entry into the parks.
Park Hopper Tickets
The Park Hopper add-on allows guests to “hop” between parks on the same day.
Are you a family that likes to start your day in one park and end your day in a different park? If you answered yes, you’ll want to purchase a Park Hopper Ticket.
As of this writing, guests can hop to a new park beginning at 2 p.m. Keep in mind that guests must make Park Pass Reservations for the park they plan to visit first. You do not have to make Park Pass Reservations for the parks you plan to visit thereafter.
Now, “technically” entry into a second, third, or even fourth park is not guaranteed if that park has reached its capacity limit. In saying that, though, we have not heard of anyone who has been turned away from Park Hopping.
Guests can check with a Cast Member to find out if any theme parks have reached capacity for the day, or they can call the Park Hopper hotline at 407-560-5000.
Water Park and Sports Ticket
Who loves some water park fun? Or are the greens more your thing? If so, then the Water Park and Sports Ticket might be a good fit!
The Water Park and Sports add-on is perfect for families who know they want to stick with visiting one theme park per ticket day (think: Base Ticket), but they also hope to check out the water parks or hit up the links during their stay.
It’s important to note that although you will need to make Park Pass Reservations for the theme parks you plan to visit, you do not need to make reservations for any “extra” experiences associated with this ticket type.
Curious what’s included? This magical ticket allows guests to visit one theme park per ticket day while also enjoying a select number of visits to one or more of the following:
- Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
- Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park (currently unavailable)
- NBA Experience (currently unavailable)
- ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex (currently unavailable)
- Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course – FootGolf
- Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
- Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course (prior to 4 p.m.)
- Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf course (prior to 4 p.m. but currently unavailable)
The major perk – and little known fact – with this ticket is that you do not have to visit the water parks (or golf course, etc.) on the same days as the theme parks.
Let’s say, for example, you decide to include a 4-Day Water Park and Sports Ticket in your Disney World vacation package. This would allow you to enjoy the theme parks on 4 days during your stay while also enjoying up to 4 visits from the above list – on any day that you choose.
Essentially, then, this ticket option doubles your opportunity for Disney fun!
Park Hopper Plus Ticket
Last, but not least, is the Park Hopper Plus Ticket. This ticket largely follows the same rules as the Water Park and Sports Ticket, but it enables guests to also take advantage of Park Hopping.
Does your family want to do it all? Then the Park Hopper Plus Ticket is where it’s at!
Once again, with this ticket add-on, you do not need to visit the water parks, golf course, etc. on the same day as the theme parks. Instead, you can enjoy these extra experiences on any day you choose during your ticket validity window.
And don’t forget – you can park hop with this ticket, too!
All in all, no matter which of the Walt Disney World tickets you choose, your family is sure to enjoy the magic that is Walt Disney World Resort.
