Annual Passholders Will No Longer Receive Complimentary MagicBands
So we’ve got an interesting change that Annual Passholders will want to be aware of. Disney is sending out an email this morning informing AP holders about an important change being made to your benefits.
As Disney pushes to move away from MagicBands and more toward their new MagicMobile system, they are doing away with the complimentary MagicBand perks for Annual Passholders. Guests will still have the option of purchasing bands.

For those unfamiliar MagicMobile allows guests to give their phone the same functionality that MagicBands have. This includes park entry and access to Disney PhotoPass.
Now that the MagicMobile service is available for both Apple and Android users, Disney is phasing out the MagicBands as a complimentary perk.
Here’s a look at the official letter from Walt Disney World:
As you can see from the letter above complimentary MagicBands will no longer be offered to Annual Pass purchases or renewals happening beginning August 16, 2021 and beyond. This means that if you’ve been holding off on getting your pass and you want a MagicBand,be on the lookout for a possible announcement from Disney World on the reopening of Annual Pass bookings and get yours while you can!
Passholders should note that as always, it is possible to purchase MagicBands at Disney retail locations and at ShopDisney. Disney has said nothing about retiring MagicBands completely and at the moment seem happy with offering both the MagicMobile or MagicBand option.
As a special perk for Annual Passholders, Disney is creating exclusive MagicMobile Pass designs for passholders only featuring. The artwork will Orange Bird and Figment.
Annual Passholders will also still be able to use your Annual Passholder discount to purchase MagicBands at a reduced cost.

Passholders can also continue to use your Annual Pass Card for entry to the parks. And remember, your Annual Pass Card and valid photo ID are required to receive your AP discounts at participating locations through Walt Disney World. This includes those using MagicMobile or MagicBands!
