Chef Mickey’s Now Open For Dinner and MickeyBlog Is There!
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that earlier this week we shared the news that Chef Mickey’s will once again be welcoming dinner guests at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Tonight marked the first night of Dinner Service.
Our MickeyBloggers had a reservation for this evening and all we can say is it feels great to be back!
Chef Mickey’s has been open for brunch for a while but now guests who want to make reservations have two sittings to choose from.
Cast Members were on hand to give us a great big thumbs up!
Below is the cast member George who served us and he was amazing!
The restaurant was traditionally a buffet but that has changed due to social distancing requirements. Now meals are served directly at your table.
The Cast Member assigned to your table now goes directly to the buffet to pick up your food for you!
Above you can see some awesome menu items just waiting to be delivered to the tables!
Main entrees though are carefully crafted and made on the spot so that your meal is fresh and hot when it arrives at your table!
We were absolutely blown away by how hard the culinary team at Chef Mickey’s was working to deliver such delicious treats!
Just look at the Farro Rice – yum!
And those piping hot pans of cheesy potatoes!
Don’t get us started on how amazing this perfectly presented Gnocchi dish looks!
This section of the pick-up area is dedicated to incredible starters that we can’t wait to try soon!
We don’t have kids with us tonight but, here’s a quick look at the Kids meals on offer. As you can see Chef Mickey’s offers a nice selection including Macaroni & Cheese, Chicken Nuggets, Turkey Corn Dog Nuggets, Tater Puffs and Steamed Broccoli!. Vegetable Dippers are also available with ranch dressing!
Beverage menus were handed out at the table and some of the popular cocktails were on display for guests to check out:
Oh and did you notice who is back!? That’s right the Mickey Mouse Souvenir Sippers have made a comeback and are available filled with a special smoothie for $17.49.
Here’s a look at some of the delicious drinks you can order up with your meal. Below is the Magical Star Cocktail made with X-Fusion Organic Mango and Passion Fruit Liqueur, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Pineapple Juice, and a souvenir multicolored Glow Cube!
Below you’ll also find the Bahama Mama made with Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Plantation Original Dark Rum, , Bols Crème de Banana, and Tropical Juices!
Another great one to try is the Captain’s Mai-Tai which is a delicious blend of Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Bols Amaretto, and Tropical Juices topped with a float of Plantation Original Dark Rum.
Guests are also presented with a menu of Iced Coffee, Hot Chocolate and smoothie selections.
For appetizers there are three awesome dishes to choose from.
A highlight for us was the delicious bread service which came. This was a mighty tasty trio of warm baked rolls.
It was a great start to the meal!
The three appetizers that are brought to your table are:
- Seasonal Composed Plant-based Salad
- Chef Mickey’s Caesar
- Citrus-poached Baby Shrimp- Creamy Cilantro-Lime Broccoli Slaw, Greens, Avocado, Tomato
While we wait for our entrees, let’s move on to what you’re all waiting for – THE CHARACTERS!
As you can see from these images, Chef Mickey made a show-stopping appearance.
He kept his distance in order to keep guests and cast members safe.
However, as these images convey, he was definitely the main event.
He stuck around for guests to get pictures and selfies and was a great sport!
Hanging out with Mickey was a great way to pass the time as we waited for our mains to arrive!
But that’s not all…look who else came to join in on the fun!
It’s Minnie!
Minnie Mouse was looking absolutely splendid in her Chef’s costume.
Right down to the checkered skirt and polka dot bloomers.
And will you look at those shoes!
She is always the charmer and was really engaging with the dinner guests.
Here she is sending some love to all of you at home!
That is before our MickeyBloggers made her laugh!
During our visit the characters came out one at a time so that we had a chance to really connect with each.
These moments were so fun, it didn’t feel like we were social distancing at all.
Of course, wherever Mickey and Minnie are, Pluto is sure to follow!
Mickey’s canine companion was full of energy.
We were able to photograph him right from our table having a little dance.
He definitely managed to energize the crowd!
Just look at those playful antics.
The wait for our meal flew by with all Pluto’s hilarious hijinks.
He even wore a Chef’s hat and a cute little checkered bandanna!
It was a little early in the evening to be howling at the moon but Pluto didn’t let that stop him!
He was simply too excited to contain himself!
We got a few more wiggles of those adorable ears.
Another dance move or two and then he was off!
It wasn’t long before our favorite feathered friend arrived on the scene!
There was definitely no sign of that stubborn, grumpy, curmudgeon tonight!
Donald seemed very happy to be there!
He took time to pose for a few selfies!
And show off his cute little chef’s coat and apron!
How adorable are those cute yellow buttons!?
Donald was more than happy to strike a pose for us!
But with those hands on his hips we see the grumpy Donald emerging before too long!
We were so delighted to be able to interact with him tonight!
However, just as quickly as he flew in he flew away – Bye Donald!
Oh Garsh it’s Goofy!
It wouldn’t be a visit to Chef Mickey’s without him!
He sure looks dashing in his multi-colored Chef’s Coat!
We even think he was flirting a little bit with our MickeyBlogger Elyssa!
He appears a little bit bashful. Was it something we said?
He stayed around long enough to entertain!
Goofy gave us some adorable poses!
And then it was time to tuck into our delicious main courses!
They bring a little bit of everything out to the table for diners to try! Above you can see both the Prime Rib with Mushroom Ragout and Roasted Onions as well as the Traditional Roasted Breast of Turkey with Summer Succotash and Gravy.
One of our favorite dishes had to be the Plant-based Farro Wheat Fried Rice. We were blown away by this and found out that this is one of the Chef’s Specialties.
We can also tell you that the Roasted Garlic Gratin Potatoes did not disappoint. They even came with an incredible Mickey-shaped Parmesan Frico!
One Of Elyssa’s favorites was the Potato Gnocchi with Roasted Mushroom Cream, Baby Spinach, Parmesan and Herbs.
Last but not least of the mains is the Roasted Salmon with Sweet Mustard Glaze and Southern-Style Braised Kale!
Can you guess what we’ll be sampling next!?
We hope you saved room for dessert because these treats are simply too good to pass up!
Will you just look at that presentation!

In case you missed it our MickeyBlogger also captured some LIVE footage of the entire dining experience and you can find it here:
