A Vegetarian’s Review of Wine Bar George
If you don’t eat meat, finding something you can eat that tastes really good isn’t always the easiest task at restaurants. Trust me, I’ve been a vegetarian for two years now and the struggle is definitely real!
My recent meal at Wine Bar George was no exception! I’m going to detail the best menu items to order if you’re a meat-free eater wanting to dine at Wine Bar George- let’s get into it!
Wine Bar George
Before I stopped eating meat, Wine Bar George was one of my go-to spots for small plate paradise paired with eclectic wines. Now that I’m a vegetarian, Wine Bar George is still at the very top of my list for must-eat spots at Disney Springs!
Of course all wine is not only vegetarian, but vegan too- so of course my table of herbivores guiltlessly indulged in a glass (or two)!
Moving onto the food, it’s important to note all of Wine Bar George’s plates are on the small side and meant to be shared among your party.
We started with the unbelievably creamy and flavorful hummus plate! Served with crunchy veggies and tiny pitas, this was a great precursor to the rest of our feast! Note: If you are vegan, ask your server for vegan crackers instead of the non-vegan pitas!
Back when I ate meat, one of my favorite dishes at Wine Bar George was the skirt steak with their fantastic sides.
Although I can’t eat the steak anymore, I highly recommend asking for sides of both the roasted potatoes and asparagus the skirt steak is usually served with.
Both arrived at the table piping hot and honestly, I’ve never had more perfectly-cooked and seasoned asparagus!
Next up we ordered the grilled panzanella salad.
Just kissed by the grill, the heads of romaine take on a fantastic charred flavor and are delicious when paired with the parmesan crisps its served with! Vegans can opt to leave the parmesan crips out and this dish quickly becomes vegan-friendly too!
TIP: As for balsamic and olive oil instead of the caesar dressing that contains anchovies! Our server happily brought us some to the table upon request.
Vegan friends, here is where we part ways. Although I don’t eat any meat or fish, I do eat cheese and dairy products.
My table opted for the shareable cheese platter. With four types of cheeses served with toasted breads, honey, jam, olives, and Marcona almonds, this board is practically a full meal in itself!
If you’re a non-meat eater and are hesitant about a meal at Wine Bar George, I’m here to assure you there is no reason to skip it!
There are tons of meat-free options available on the menu, and simple swaps can be made in many of their dishes containing cheese. Will I be back? Absolutely! But I really want to know if you’ll try Wine Bar George on your next trip! Leave me a comment and let me know!
