A Vegetarian’s Review of Three Bridges Bar and Grill
If you’re someone who is on a strict diet (by choice or otherwise) Walt Disney World Resort is one of the best places to visit! The chefs around the Resort are hyper-aware of (and hyper-prepared for) guests with food sensitivities, allergies, and dietary restrictions.
During a recent stay at the breathtakingly gorgeous new Gran Destino Tower, I meandered along Coronado Springs’ winding pathways with my sights set on the restaurant situated in the center of the lake, crossing my fingers that they would be able to accommodate my vegetarian eating habits.
Three Bridges Bar and Grill- an Oasis on the Lake!
Three Bridges gets its name from the fact that you have to cross one of three bridges to make your way to the restaurant, giving it an unparalleled ambiance and guaranteeing that each and every seat has a sweeping water view!
No reservations are required, you simply head to the restaurant when you’re hungry and join the walk-up list. For my dinner seating at 5:30pm, I didn’t even have to wait at all!
First Course Coming Up!
I am a vegetarian. I do eat some animal products (like eggs and cheese), but I am a strict ‘no meat’ and ‘no fish’ eater…which usually makes ordering at any restaurant a tricky game! At Three Bridges, there are a few options already listed as plant-based on their menu. I opted for the roasted corn dip appetizer, really taking a gamble on the ‘vegan parmesan’.
The generous portion of corn dip arrived at the table and I knew just from the cheesy smell wafting from the plate that I made a good choice. The roasted corn dip is served with tortilla chips and is served warm.
What made this a stand-out dish for me was the fact that the dip was not creamy nor gooey, yet it somehow managed to pack a punch of cheese flavor with every bite! The salty vegan parm added the perfect flavor contrast to the sweet and perfectly cooked corn…the perfect precursor to any meal.
I haven’t been a vegetarian my whole life, so I can confidently say that anyone- vegetarian or not- would thoroughly enjoy this very shareable appetizer!
Entree
There are a few salad options, a hummus plate, and a very tantalizing vegetarian meatball small plate that crossed my plant-based radar. I was about to go with a few small plates when we mentioned to our waitress that we were vegetarians…and that changed the entire Three Bridges game!
TIP: Always make your server aware of your dietary preferences, they are extremely knowledgeable about the menu and will know exactly what to suggest to fit your needs.
Since Three Bridges has a plant-based meat option on their menu already, our waitress told us that the kitchen stocks plant-based meat that can be used in a large variety of their entree dishes! Suddenly, I had options…a LOT of options.
The chef at Three Bridges is clearly fantastically accommodating, because he was willing to use that plant-based meat to make us vegetarian tacos! Our waitress also told us the chef is happy to use the plant-based meat crumble atop one the warm Manchego dip too. I ended up ordering their signature burger exactly how it comes, but with a plant-based patty instead of a meat patty!
This burger right here is hands-down the BEST, most convincing vegetarian burger I’ve had since making the change to plant-based eating two years ago. The ‘meat’ was cooked so perfectly medium-rare that I actually called our waitress over to confirm that I was, in fact, NOT eating real meat! Add in the fact that this baby also featured a creamy aioli and crispy potatoes on the burger itself, and you really can’t go wrong with this option!
Not a vegan item.
After Dinner Drinks and Final Thoughts
Vegetarian, meat-eater, Keto follower, vegan- we all like a good drink to accompany our meals! On the warm evening I was visiting Three Bridges, I opted for their frozen sangria. If you’re a fan of sweet, refreshing, and not-overly-boozy drinks, this one is definitely for you! In the future, I would choose to have this drink earlier in the day when the hot sun was still shining as it screamed more ‘refreshing’ than it did ‘cocktail’ to me.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Three Bridges to any vegetarian visiting Walt Disney World Resort. In fact, I would even go so far as to recommending you go out of your way to try it out…it’s THAT good! If you’re looking for a delicious, comforting, and scarily convincing vegetarian meal, just cross one of those three bridges and you’ll be well on your way to vegetarian heaven!
