Jungle Cruse Will Remain Open During Refurb Says Imagineer
Earlier this Spring, Disney Imagineers announced that they will be updating some of the scenes of the beloved Jungle Cruise attraction at BOTH Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom. Disney is taking the stance that like Splash Mountain, some of the scenes in the classic Jungle Cruise river ride are culturally insensitive and need modernizing.
Though Disney recently revealed one of the new characters that we’ll find once the new version of Jungle Cruise is unveiled – Alberta Falls, little has been said regarding the length of the refurbishment. However, it looks like Disney will be taking pains to avoid shutting the ride down completely and rather will update scenes in a way that will allow the ride to stay open.
This is according to Imagineer Zach Riddley who took to Instagram today with the following post:

As you can see from the caption above, Riddley advises that work is already starting on the ride in Magic Kingdom but that the attraction WILL remain open to guests will teams update the scenes. He also says that this will be done in a phased approach over the next several months!
So what can guests expect from the new and improved Jungle Cruise? According to Imagineers, the enhancements will include the same knee-slapping humor but will “reflect the value and diversity of the world around us.”
