Disney Executives See ‘Light at End of the Tunnel’ for Disney Cruise Line, Give Update on New Ships
During today’s Walt Disney Company earnings call, top executives for the company stated that they see the “light at the end of the tunnel” when it comes to Disney Cruise Line.
When the COVID-19 outbreak first began back in March of this year, Disney Cruise Line, along with all other cruise lines worldwide suspended operations. Up until the end of last month, a no-sail order was in effect by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The CDC has since lifted that no-sail order in replaced it with a conditional sail order.
Under the conditional sail order, cruise lines will used a phased approach in returning to operations under strict guidelines. Initial phases of this order require testing for crew members and the addition of an onboard testing facility to test any crew and passengers. In addition, simulated voyages will be offered to test Disney Cruise Line’s and other cruise lines’ ability to mitigate the risk of COVID-19.
It was also announced during today’s earnings call that demand for Disney Cruise Line is very high for the second part of 2021 and into early 2022. As a Travel Agent specializing in Disney vacations, I can attest to this – things are filling up quickly!
We learned earlier this year that delivery of Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, Disney Wish, is pushed back until Summer 2022. Many were wondering what that would mean for the other two ships that were also ordered by Disney. Today, it was confirmed that they still plan to move forward with the other two ships but delivery of them has been pushed back to 2024 and 2025.
While we still are unsure exactly when Disney Cruise Line cruise ships will hit the water again, hope is building that we are getting closer to that date! I mean, I think we all deserve a nice cruise vacation right about now! Make sure to keep it here for all the latest!
