FORBES: Orlando and Walt Disney World are Back with Amazing Deals and COVID-19 Changes – Why You Should Go Now
While us here at MickeyBlog.com continue to encourage visiting Orlando and Walt Disney World, we love when other major publications agree with us! That’s why I am excited to share what Senior Contributor, Laura Begley Bloom with Forbes, is saying about why now is the time to visit Walt Disney World and the Orlando area even with all the changes due to COVID-19.
Per Hotwire and Priceline, it appears Orlando is still a popular destination to visit. Hotwire lists Orlando as the number one city in their “Best Cities for a Quickie Index” in 2020 foe the second year in a row. Priceline has also reported that the Florida city is second most searched domestic vacation destination for the time between Summer and Holiday Travel.
Good News on COVID-19 in the Orlando Area
The Forbes article also states that people might be looking to a Walt Disney World and Orlando as their vacation destination since no COVID-19 outbreaks have been tied to the theme parks and positive cases are on the decline much in part due to Orange County’s “Safer, Stronger, Together” campaign.
Dr. Raul Pino from the Florida Department of Health in Orange County has stated that since Walt Disney World and other area theme parks are outdoors, transmission of the disease is much harder. This is in addition to the extensive health and safety protocols that have been instituted including enhanced sanitation measures, requirement of face coverings, social distancing measures, and much more.
Dr. Pino has stated, “The parks are taking great measures and they have gone to great lengths to be able to open and prevent the transmission, but it’s also the whole thing of an open space I think is what’s making the difference. And, also, the parks are not full. They are operating on less than 50% capacity and that may be a contributing factor.”
Orange County Mayor, Jerry L. Demmings, states, “We are a community that has a sense of togetherness and this challenge has brought us even closer.”
Walt Disney World has even made social distancing and masks fun with the introduction of the “Social Distancing Squad.” These Cast Members are around the Parks and Disney Springs to help remind guests about all the new health and safety measures and to be sure everyone is wearing their face coverings correctly.
