Disney Removing Social Distancing Markers at Disney World Resorts
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that the CDC relaxed its guidelines for social distancing this week and the mandatory use on facemasks.
Though Disney has yet to say whether guests will STILL be required to wear facemasks at the parks we do know that Walt Disney World is already starting to edit and remove signage for social distancing.
Our MickeyBlogger was at Disney’s Contemporary Resort this afternoon and noticed that the social distancing signs at the resort have had white tape put over them where it used to say 6 ft.
As you can see, the signs remain up as a directive to be mindful of social distancing but they no longer carry information on just how far apart guests are expected to be!
We noticed these changes at several locations throughout the resort.
Including the health & safety signage above.
It will be interesting to see what amendments Disney will be making to their theme park health and safety requirements. They are relaxing social distancing and have done away with temperature checks.
During yesterday’s Q2 Y21 earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek also mentioned that Disney World has already made steps to raise the capacity of the theme parks.
The signs have been updated in all high traffic areas including the shops.
And eateries!
As Disney starts to ease back on COVID restrictions it will be interesting to see what additional rides, attractions and resorts start to reopen over the next few weeks.
Many regular Disney-goers are also hoping for the return of Fastpasses and the Disney Dining Plans
As of going to print Disney has not made an announcement as to whether they will be bringing both vacation package perks back in 2021.
However it is a story that we will continue to follow closely and promise to keep you updated!
Yesterday I also shared images of the trash bins around the Disney World theme parks.
Since Disney reopened last year after the COVID-19 shutdown, all of the trash cans had been propped open.
This was so guests didn’t have to physically touch the trash can lids.
However, with more Americans vaccinated, Disney has opted to do away with that precaution.
Keep following along with us in the weeks ahead and we’ll let you know of further changes!
