Its International Talk Like A Pirate Day!
Ahoy, me Disney-lovin’ landlubbers! Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day and we here at MickeyBlog thought what better way to celebrate than by taking a look at one of our favorite attractions – Pirates of the Caribbean and its various incarnations around the globe.
Whether you’re walking the plank at Disneyland Resort or hoisting the colors at Disneyland Paris, one thing is for certain, this ride (no matter the theme park) is something truly spectacular!

The first Pirates attraction opened at Disneyland Resort back in 1967 and here’s a fun fact for your next Disney trivia night! Disney Imagineer X Atencio- the genius behind “Yo-Ho (A Pirates Life For me)” was also the voice of the Jolly Roger skull and crossbones that happens just before you plunge down the first waterfall. We hope these swashbucklers aren’t getting up to too much mischief during the park’s extended closure!
Over at Disneyland Paris adventurers get to take TWO awesome plunges down waterfalls. There’s also a plethora of scallywags and swashbuckling buccaneers. Here’s a fun DLP Pirates fact for you. The dialogue for the main characters (including the auctioneer and pirate captains) is in French but you’ll also hear English and Spanish as you journey through this awesome high seas adventure.
Over at Shanghai Disney Resort you’ll come face-to-face with some of the world’s saltiest sea dogs. Each of the vessels of this awesome attraction twists, twirls and even steers backwards while navigating through some very treacherous waters.
Next we’re over to Walt Disney World where you can journey back in time to the 17th century with a band of rowdy rogues. Oh, and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow.
Next up, if ye be seekin’ adventure, Tokyo Disney Resort will take you back to a time when pirates and privateers ruled the seas. This ride is big on thrills with cannonballs flying across your boats and other harrowing experiences! If all of this has you feeling nostalgic for a ride on Pirates of the Caribbean but if it will be a while before you head to the theme parks here’s an awesome ride through below:
We hope you enjoyed our special celebration of Pirates of Caribbean favorites from around the world! There will be more pirate-themed goodies coming your way on MickeyBlog today so keep following along!
