Local Health Officer Confirms New COVID-19 Cases Are on Decline in Orange County
Dr. Raul Pino, the local health officer for the Florida Department of Health in Orange County, Florida stated earlier this week that new COVID-19 cases in the area (including Orlando and Walt Disney World) are on the decline. This is great news after the area saw rising cases for several weeks in a row since June.

Dr. Pino stated, “There is a clear, sustained deceleration of the pandemic in our county.”
Monday, August 10 marked lowest single-day increase in new COVID-19 cases in the state of Florida. Today, Florida did see a rise in positive cases but a lot of this was due to a back log of around 4,000 positive tests in another county that date back to June.
In the past two weeks, the Orange County area has seen a daily test positivity rate under 10%. Health officials maintain that the spread of the virus in the community is under control when positivity rates are less than 5%.
Last month, Dr. Pino also confirmed that the Orlando and Orange County area Theme Parks had no COVID-19 outbreaks associated to them. Orange County also has a mandatory mask mandate as well as Walt Disney World. Guests two and older are required to wear a face covering at in public location while on property.
