Source Code Leak Impacts Disney, MSN, Nintendo and More
Yikes! The big new in the computer world today is that more than 50 high-profile companies (including Disney) have had their source code freely available online as a result of an incorrectly configured infrastructure.
According to a recent piece in Tom’s Guide, source code belonging to Disney and other companies including Adobe, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Roblox just to name a few were collected and placed in an online repository.
According to various online sources, the leaked code was collected by Swiss software developer Tillie Kottman and was placed in a GitLab repository that can be accessed by anyone. The developer amassed a large surplus of source code by scanning 3rd party sources and DevOps that had been misconfigured.
Bank Security who posted a tweet that we’ll share with you below estimates that over 50 firms had their source codes made available in the repository. The claim also came with a list of those suspected to be impacted. Let’s take a look:
The source code related to over 50 companies has been leaked and posted on a public repository.
In some cases there are hard-coded credentials.
Here the targeted Banks:

Kottman (who identifies as non-binary) explains that they came across the hard-coded credentials in the repositories but took steps to stop them from being abused. Koffman said that they will respond to takedown notices and ensure the information isn’t used to cause further damage. Jake Moore a security specialist at ESET told Tom’s Guide, “Losing control of the source code on the internet is like handing the blueprints of a bank to robbers. ” He continued, “This list will be viewed by cyber criminals far and wide looking for vulnerabilities as well as confidential information in a scarily short space of time.”
