Welcome back to our continuing journey through the history of the Walt Disney Company! Today, we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- January 28.
January 28th was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the debut of a Goofy cartoon, the groundbreaking of two Walt Disney World resorts, and the premiere of an Epcot adventure!
How to be a Sailor Released (1994)
On this day in 1944, the Goofy cartoon How to Be a Sailor was released.

Directed by Jack Kinney, Goofy took audiences through the history of sailing, beginning in prehistoric times and ending in the modern era. This was the only wartime cartoon to feature the Navy.
Swan & Dolphin Groundbreaking Takes Place (1988)
On this day in 1988, groundbreaking for the Walt Disney Swan and the Walt Disney Dolphin took place at Walt Disney World.
The resorts would open in 1990. Designed by Michael Graves, and spearheaded by Michael Eisner, the resorts are not owned by Disney.
Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure Debuts (2007)
On this day in 2007, the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure debuted at Epcot.
Based on the popular animated series, the scavanger hunt took guests on a series of missions around seven World Showcase pavilions.
Spaceship Earth Hot Air Balloon Soars (2007)
Also on this day in 2007, an 80-foot-tall hot air balloon shaped like Spaceship Earth soared above the Magic Kingdom.
Inside the balloon was the Birkett family, who won the ride as part of Disney’s “Disney Dreams Giveaway” promotion.
Disneyland Forever Previewed
Finally, on this day on 2015, Disneyland demonstrated the new projection technology planned for “Disneyland Forever”.

The new nighttime spectacular would debut at Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration, which kicked off on May 22, 2015.
