Jude Law Reportedly Taking On Role of Captain Hook In Live Action ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’
An interesting bit of casting news was making the rounds today! Jude Law who recently appeared in popular franchises like Marvel (Captain Marvel) and Harry Potter (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) is reportedly in talks to take on the role of one of Disney’s most notorious baddies – Captain Hook! This would be for a new live-action project Disney is working on – Peter Pan & Wendy.
David Lowery who directed the live-action Pete’s Dragon will be at the helm. He also wrote the script with Toby Halbrooks. Ever Anderson and Alexander Molony are on board as Wendy an Peter. .
If Law does take on the film, he has some big shoes to fill. As CinemaBlend tells us, over the years there has been some flash casting when it comes to the role with everyone from Dustin Hoffman to Hugh Jackman having a go at the role.
Though details have remained scarce Peter Pan & Wendy will be a live-action update of Disney’s 1953 animated classic Peter Pan. As Entertainment Weekly reminds us, over the years there have been countless takes on the classic story by J.M. Barrie but Disney’s original animated film remains the most influential.
The film will be another addition in Disney’s ever-expanding live-action slate, with Mulan up next with an Aug. 21 release date (after being bumped twice due to the coronavirus pandemic).
