Marvel: Spider-Man, Spider-Verse 2 Begins Production
Spider-Man Returns To The Spider-Verse
Firstly, I love a simple tweet with a big story attached. Just about midday, today, animator Nick Kondo announced he was on the job.

Screenrant had the story that caught my late-night eye:
Sony has begun production for the superhero movie today. Animator Nick Kondo took to Twitter to share his excitement. He tweeted “first day on the job!” as well as a promotional gif announcing the sequel is coming in 2022. While not much is known about the sequel, the story will focus on the growing relationship between Miles and Gwen Stacy, a Spider-Woman from another dimension. The after-credits scene of the first movie features Spider-Man 2099 Miguel O’Hara, so it is likely that he will play an important role in the sequel.
Award-Winning Spider-Man
Secondly, of course, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse took home three coveted awards.
The film garnered “Best Animated Feature Film” at the Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice, and Academy Award ceremonies. Notable here on MickeyBlog, not only for its Marvel-ness, but because it was the first non-Disney film to win the Oscar for Best Animated feature since 2011.
ScreenRant added:
The highly-anticipated sequel Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 has begun production. The original 2018 animated film was a massive hit among both audiences and critics. It follows Miles Morales’ version of Spider-Man learning how to use his powers and discovering there are other versions of Spider-Man from different dimensions.
Of course, we’ve all been waiting for the sequel.
I posted the below back in 2019:
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Sequel Release Date Announced
This was the last movie that my oldest (now 10), middle (8), and I all agreed on. Everyone walked out of the movie just blown away. We even bought the soundtrack. Loved it.
And all of us, now including the 4-year-old are ready for another bite from the radioactive insect.
Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy and whomever else the Spider-Verse gang run into!
