He isn’t the only Disney actor to stand up in support of Black Lives Matter, as we reported yesterday here at MickeyBlog, Actor John Boyega from the three most recent Star Wars films gave an incredibly powerful speech during a protest in London over the weekend. A video of the speech quickly went viral with Lucasfilm, JJ Abrams and more coming out in support of the actor.
Boyega took to Instagram yesterday to show his thanks for the outpouring of support:
In his Instagram post, John said, “I want to thank you all for the love and support you have shared over the last few days, although nothing I have done is for praise, or is truly even enough, in the grand scheme of things. This is an intense time for our community, and the most important thing is for us to maintain momentum and not lose sight of how critical it is to pursue long term solutions and commitments, for the sake of our generation, and the next. Our individual pursuits of success and belonging remain, but now more than ever, it’s important to use this movement as fuel to inspire new ways of thinking, building, and growing, together. I believe any great movement starts with a renewal of the mind.”
Disney World also shared a message of solidarity last week sharing a message in support of Black Lives Matter across their social media channels and announcing that they will be donating $5 million to charity to combat racial injustice.
