J.J. Abrams to Donate $10 Million to Help Fight Racism

J.J. Abrams, along with wife Katie McGrath and Bad Robot Productions has announced a generous donation to help fight racism. Posted on the Bad Robot Instagram page this week, $10 million will be donated over the course of five years to anti-racist organizations.

This includes organizations like Black Futures Lab, Black Lives Matter LA, Community Coalition, Equal Justice Initiative, and Know Your Rights Campaign. These organizations all serve to promote equality and justice. The Instagram post expresses a heartfelt message in support of the Black Lives Matter movement sweeping the country.

The statement calls for an end to police brutality, injustice, and ultimately death. “The centuries long neglect and abuse of our Black brothers and sisters can only be addressed by scalable investment. A massive and thoughtful overhaul of tax policy…is long overdue.”
Abrams Speaks Out
Star Wars actor John Boyega gave an impassioned speech at a recent Black Lives Matter event in London to fight racism and police brutality. As a result, Abrams took to Twitter to share his support of Boyega. The actor’s display of activism is in response to the death of Geoge Floyd and many days of global protests.

Donation to Fight Racism
Abrams has shown his commitment to fight racism and a dedication to promoting justice. Read the full message on the Bad Robot Instagram post for a full understanding of the message they seek to convey. Since the original post, Bad Robot has posted other messages of support for the black community. This includes a post in memorial of Breonna Taylor, who would have recently celebrated her 27th birthday.
