NBA Will Resume Play at Walt Disney World the End of July
The NBA IS BACK… at Walt Disney World! We have even more Disney/sports news to report today! As we just reported, Major League Soccer will be resuming their season at Walt Disney World next month. Now, pending a vote by the NBA Board of Governors which will be held tomorrow, the NBA will resume their season at Walt Disney World beginning on July 31.
ESPN NBA Reporter, Adrian Wojanrowski just reported on Twitter (@wojespn) that the restart of the season will being on July 31 and last until October 12. 22 teams will be invited to play at Walt Disney World including 13 teams from the Western Conference and nine teams from the Eastern Conference. Each of the 22 teams will play eight regular season games and there will be a play-in for the eighth seed in each conference. Playoffs and finals will also be held.
So the NBA’s inviting 22 teams to Orlando: 13 Western Conference, 9 Eastern Conference. Eight-regular season games per team. Play-in for the 8th seeds. July 31-October 12. Vote tomorrow to ratify.

There of course be health and safety protocols in place when the NBA comes to Walt Disney World. It is being reported by ESPN that the players, coaches, and staff will be permitted to golf and eat at outdoor restaurants but they will have to practice social distancing. Cast Members will not be permitted in player’s rooms due to the current modification to on-property “Mousekeeping” and the areas around where the players are staying will be monitored to keep spectators away.
So. “Where are they staying,” you might ask. Per my research, it appears Disney’s Coronado Springs is the likely Walt Disney World Hotel to host the players, coaches, and staff. In addition to games being held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, I would be surprised if the convention center at Coronado Springs is also converted to house some basketball courts.
The NBA Board of Governors will vote tomorrow on the resume to play structure and to resume play at Walt Disney World. The vote is scheduled to take place at 12:30 pm. MickeyBlog.com will be the first to let you know it is confirmed!
