Governor DeSantis Approves Walt Disney World’s Phased Reopening Plans

If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you know that Disney World presented a phased reopening plan to the Orange County Economic Task Force on Wednesday. Under the plan, Disney plans to open Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11th followed by Hollywood Studios and EPCOT on July 15th.

The plan was unanimously passed by the Task Force which includes Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings. The final hurdle was to get the reopening plan passed by Governor DeSantis which we can now confirm has happened.

According to My News 13, Disney World along with SeaWorld, which also presented reopening plans on Wednesday has received a letter of approval. The letter was sent from the desk of Halsey Beshears, secretary of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Disney plans to reopen the parks include a number of measures to keep visitors safe. Some of the options put forward are temperature checks, mandatory face masks, reduced theme park capacity, social distancing queues and more.

In order to limit the number of guests in the parks, visitors will need a reservation to enter. Disney is revamping their entire reservation system to accommodate this change and will release more details in the days and weeks ahead.

As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, Disney has been closed since mid-March in response to COVID-19.
