Most Entertaining Disney Links for April of 2020
You’re working from home, sports aren’t a thing anymore, and you’re all caught up on television shows. At least there’s one form of entertainment to distraction from the monotony! Here are the best Disney links for April of 2020.
This Used to Be My Playground
Websites know that you’re missing the parks right now. So, we’re doing everything that we can to remind you of your favorites.
For instance, CNBC has posted highlights from a new Disney website. They’re listing some ride videos, parades, and castle shots from the parks.
Of course, you can skip the middleman and go straight to the source. #DisneyMagicMoments is the company’s way of helping all of us entertain ourselves during a trying time.
Many of the viral Disney stories that you’ve read recently came from this site. It’s where cast members perform their craft from home, celebrities read bedtime stories, and illustrators teach us how to draw beloved Disney characters.
Of course, you’ll want an even more potent reminder on occasion. Space.com has done something extraordinary. The site has provided an aerial tour of Walt Disney World.
Have you ever wanted an up-close look at an abandoned planet? The images here showing Batuu when the entirety of Black Spire Outpost has switched to working from home. It’s mesmerizing.
These videos always reveal how different Disney creations look from the sky. For some, it breaks the illusions. However, I’ve found that these images cause me to admire Imagineers that much more.
Sadly, not everything that Disney strategists dream up comes to life. The Sun, of all places, wrote a detailed article about Disney’s America, the theme park that never was.
If you’ve ever wanted to be an Imagineer, Disney wants to assist you in that regard, too. Here’s an Insider article about something MickeyBlog has previously discussed, Imagineering in a Box.
Then again, maybe you’re interested in a different cast member gig. Vox has persuaded a former Disney Princess to spill the beans. She speaks of the joys and challenges of becoming a friend of Pocahontas.
Disney+ News
I’m not going to highlight the business side of Disney this month because, you know. However, a couple of Disney+ articles are worth a read.
First of all, Entertainment Weekly has gone behind the scenes of an upcoming Disney+ program. We’re all excited about Prop Culture. This piece explains why it’s gonna be awesome.
Are you a television technology fan? Or merely someone who wants your Disney programming to look as good as possible? If so, you should read this Mashable article on the technical side of Disney+. Spoiler: HDR is okay for now but could be a lot better.
While Mashable discusses HDR, Business Insider answers a question that many have had over the past few months. Since Disney+ recently crossed 50 million subscribers, people have wondered whether Netflix felt any impact from the competition.
The answer was yes, but now it’s no. Initially, Disney+ caused a downturn in Netflix subscribers. After all, people have a limited amount of time to watch streaming programs. Well, they did.
During 2020, Netflix subscriptions have risen again. The quarantine has given all of us a chance to watch more programming, and we have. So, it’s fair to say that Disney+ hurt Netflix at first, but that was a full Tiger King ago.
Do You Have the Munchies?
MickeyBlog has discussed all these as they’ve happened, but just in case you’ve missed it…
Disney has taken the bold step of revealing recipes for some of its most popular foods. While you’re quarantined, you have plenty of time to master each one.
The only catch is finding the right ingredients. After all, we’re all in foraging mode right now. Presuming that you’ve got what you need in your kitchen cabinets, here’s a recipe for Disney churros! The company’s YouTube page has even posted a how-to video!
The Parks Blog also recently got my attention with this post. Yes, it’s a recipe for the Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich that’s all the rage at Woody’s Lunch Box. As long as you’ve got access to cheese and bread, you can feed your family for the rest of the Great Shut-In!
Of course, the headliner this month came from the Disneyland app. In a shocking turn of events, the company revealed the recipe for Dole Whip!
The shocker here is that it only requires three ingredients. As long as you can get your hands on some ice cream, pineapple juice, and pineapple, your blender is ready to dispense unlimited Dole Whip! If that doesn’t get Disney fans through the quarantine, nothing will.
Disney Entertainment
We’re all looking for any form of entertainment we can find right now. That’s why puzzle sales are through the roof right now. Well, I want to help as much as I can. So, I’m going to give in to the Dark Side and post a bunch of BuzzFeed links.
Here’s a set of some genuinely atrocious hot takes about some of your favorite Disney Channel programs. A lot of that was horrible, right? Well, I can throw under it.
BuzzFeed has also published this list of Disney characters that people can’t stand. I mean it when I say that the only value of this article stems from hate-reading it. The thing starts with Mary Poppins and Lilo, for God’s sake!
The website does redeem itself at least somewhat with a couple of good quizzes. Here is a Disney version of Two Truths and a Lie. And here’s a tremendous image-based test of Disney animated movie knowledge.
Of course, Disney movie fans have some other options. MentalFloss has published a bunch of Mulan movie facts to distract you from the delay of the live-action remake.
Meanwhile, Vanity Fair has written about the hard-to-explain triumph of A Goofy Movie. And the New York Post explores a recent rumor that Tangled might have prophesied the Coronavirus pandemic.
Those of you more interested in the television side of Disney should read this Deadline update. It discusses the events that led to the unlikely High School Musical reunion during Thursday’s Disney Singalong.
On a more reflective note, Demi Lovato has given another no-holds-barred interview. The actress is always willing to share her innermost secrets, which makes her so engaging.
Finally and just because, here’s SyFy celebrating the greatness of Vacation Merlin. Since we’re not going outside anyway, I say we all dress like this!
