Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Drawn To Life’ Cancelled Through June 1st
Fans hoping to check out Cirque du Soleil’s new Disney-inspired production Drawn To Life will need to wait a bit longer. Though performances were expected to be in full swing by now, the website for the production is not showing any shows scheduled until the first week in June.
This is not surprising given that it’s in keeping with Disney’s official stance that the theme parks and Disney Springs are closed until further notice with hotels remaining unavailable for any bookings before June 1, 2020.
Here’s a look at the current calendar as it appears on the Drawn To Life website:
Previews were meant to start on the show in early April but this new production never got off the ground due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In mid March the company started reaching out to ticket holders to let them know that they’d be refunded for the cost of tickets.
Cirque du Soleil as a company has been faced with production closures worldwide. During the end of March, it was revealed that they had furloughed 95% of their staff leaving just essential administrators in post. Fingers crossed that company members will be back and ready to entertain visitors when Disney Springs officially re-opens to guests.
“Drawn to Life” was expected to be a big draw for Disney Spring’s West End. Combining all of the exciting elements of one of Cirque Du Soleil’s incredible productions with an infusion of Disney magic it was being hailed as an acrobatic journey!
When open, the production will tell the story of Julie a girl who discovers an unexpected gift from her father who is a Disney Animator – an unfinished animation. This is the catalyst for Julies inspiring quest guided by a surprising pencil and filled with childhood Disney memories!
