The Ups and Downs of Being a Disneyland Annual Passholder During COVID-19
Since Disneyland and Walt Disney World announced that the theme parks would remain closed indefinitely during the COVID-19 outbreak many annual passholders have been vocal about their feelings regarding paying for Annual Passes while the parks remain shuttered.
At the onset of the pandemic, Disney took steps to address this stating that all Annual Passes would be extended for the length of time that the theme parks are closed. However, in these times of austerity, most passholders are unwilling to continue to pay for passes that they won’t be able to use.
This was the subject of a piece yesterday in the Orange County Register where passholders were sharing their outrage when it comes to continuing to pay for Annual Passes during the closure. As one Passholder put it, “It’s a very scary and uncertain time that we are all in right now and the fact that one of the largest companies in the world isn’t offering to help its loyal customers is absolutely appalling,” said Alison Raposa, 32, of Irvine via email. “I have been on the phone with different companies all week trying to see what options they can offer to help in this situation and so far all of them have been sympathetic and have offered some sort of relief. Disney is the only one who hasn’t.”
However, it looks like Disneyland may have heard the complaint! This evening, it was announced that they have decided to suspend monthly payments on annual passes for Disneyland Resort. According to an updated piece in the Orange County Register today, Disneyland will halt annual pass payments for passholders that pay annually as well as those that pay monthly amid the COVID-19 closure.
The policy has been updated on the Disneyland Website. Here’s a look.
Disney ends the message regarding annual pass refunds with, “Our annual passholders are some of our most loyal guests, and we stand ready to help during this incredibly uncertain time.” Those impacted by these recent changes are encouraged to Disneyland’s Members Only line at 714.781.7277 to have your individual concerns addressed.
As the Orange County Register says, we hope this recently updated policy change works toward restoring the potential damage to the theme park’s cherished relationship with their Annual Passholders.
