Plans For a ‘Tron’-based Series Have Reportedly Been Scrapped By Disney+
It’s a sad day for Sci-Fi fans as it is being reported that a new TV series based on the 1982 film TRON has been scrapped by Disney+. This is according to a recent report that appeared in The Hollywood Reporter.
Screenwriter John Ridley (who won an Academy Award for 12 Years A Slave) was reported to be working on the show. However, the project was reportedly scrapped when it wasn’t coming together as hoped.
This leaves the future of the Tron franchise hanging. Though the film is the inspiration for a brand-new indoor coaster coming to Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom, future films and television projects remain uncertain.
Various rumours have surfaced including that a third Tron film might be coming out again penned by Legacy screenwriters Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis. The film seemed to gain momentum in 2015, in 2017 Jared Leto was supposedly linked to a Tron project but there’s hasn’t been much movement on the Tron front as of late.
This is just one of a handful of projects that have been given the axe over the last few months as Disney+ starts to develop a clearer vision of its programming. Muppets Live Another Day and Book of Enchantment( a VIllains-focused series) have been scrapped as well.
