Watch as Disney Shares The Amazing Details of the Runaway Railway Marquee Being Built
Earlier this week we shared with you a first glimpse of the dazzling marquee being lit for the first time above Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway with a little help from Goofy. Today we wanted to expand on that by showing you all of the incredible work and attention to detail that went into making this marquee a reality.
“We want to make sure that we’re providing an amazing marquee that really celebrates the entrance into a great attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios,” said Art Director Phillip Hillis.
An awesome addition to the already incredible nighttime lights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the marquee features an animated depiction of Mickey Mouse and Mickey Mouse brought to life with real, hand-crafted neon.
The entire design was inspired by the incredible made-for-the-movie marquees that we custom designed for the premieres of films in the mid-20th century. It’s the perfect way to connect the design and glamour of the Chinese Theatre with Hollywood Boulevard.
The attraction will make its official debut on March 4th where guests will get to check out Mickey & Minnie’s latest cartoon short titled “Perfect Picnic.” The theater then serves as a magical porthole through which theatre-goers enter a magical cartoon world!
We expect more awesome Runaway Railway news in the weeks leading into the opening so keep following along with MickeyBlog! We promise to keep you posted!
