What is the Dining Plan and is it Worth it?
Imagine yourself strolling around the Magic Kingdom with just your cell phone and poncho in your small bag. You head into any quick-service or snack window and order items without worrying about shifting through cash or pulling out a credit card. This is the beauty of the Disney Dining Plan.
You will eat dole whips and Mickey pretzels and cheeseburger spring rolls and specialty cupcakes. And all this is after you had your Starbucks as you entered the park that morning.
When clients ask if the dining plan is worth it, this is the scenario I describe. Of course there is a cost, but savvy customers figure out quickly that the dining plan can also serve as a cost-saving measure.
Dining Plan Categories
Dining Plans at Disney come in three categories. The quick-service plan allows customers to get 2 quick-service meals, 2 snacks and a refillable mug per person per night of stay.
Quick-service is any walk up counter restaurant and many quick-service restaurants in the parks and at the resort do accept the dining plan. This plan is perfect for the on-the-go family that does not want to use valuable park time for a lengthy sit-down meal.
The most popular Disney Dining Plan allows customers 1 Table-service (usually requires reservations), 1 quick-service meal and 2 snacks with the refillable mug per person per night of stay. This plan is coveted by families who want those fun character meals like Chef Mickey’s or Ohana’, but also want to be able to grab a quick bite at a counter service restaurant.
And for the foodies who want to experience all that Disney offers in dining options there is the Deluxe Dining Plan. This plan offers 3 meals and 2 snacks with the refillable mug per person per night of stay. With this plan a guest does not need to worry about anything. He can experience everything from Cinderella’s Royal Table to Be Our Guest to 1900 Park Fare.
But above all, the dining plans Disney offers bring a new level of convenience to the vacation. Disney vacations should be magical and stress-free and should not require cooking or cleaning!
