4 Pro Tips To Help You Get the Most Out of Your Visit To Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
Will you be visiting Galaxy’s Edge in 2020? This stunning new 14-acre settlement can be found at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World and at Disneyland theme park and provides awesome, immersive Star Wars-themed fun for the whole family.
The entire land is divided up into three distinct areas: The Resistance, The First Order and separating the two a bustling marketplace for adventurers, smugglers and traders. Within these lands you’ll find two new state-of-the-art attractions. The brand new – Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance where an R-5 droid will help you escape the clutches of Kylo Ren. You can also assist Hondo Ohnaka by acquiring a shipment of coaxium fuel and making a clean getaway in Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.
With so much to see, and explore, we here at MickeyBlog thought we’d help you get the most out of your visit to a Galaxy far, far away, here are a few quick tips.
Use Mobile Ordering:
Make the most of your time at Galaxy’s Edge by using Disney’s Mobile Ordering service. You can peruse the menus, select your favorite items, and pay for your meal all while traversing the park or waiting in in line for some of your favorite attractions. When its time to eat simply push a button to let the restaurant know you’re on your way and your food will be waiting for you at the Mobile Ordering pick-up window! Mobile ordering can be used at locations throughout the parks and resorts. While at Galaxy’s Edge, we recommend ordering from Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. You’ll find a wide-range of delicious options including the Felucian Kefta and Hummus Garden Spread.
Make Advanced Reservations:
Don’t miss out on those Galaxy’s Edge experiences that require advanced reservations. Let’s start with Oga’s Cantina. The most infamous watering hole in the galaxy, Oga’s is a great place to refuel while listening to droid DJ R-3X spin his tunes. You’ll love both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic concoctions being served up here including our favorite the Fuzzy Tauntaun. Though walk-ups are occasionally accepted, its best to have a reservation for Oga’s. You can secure your spot up to 180 days before your vacation via your My Disney Experience app!
Other Galaxy’s Edge hotspots where you’ll want to plan ahead includes Savi’s Workshop. Here visitors have the unique opportunity to craft one-of-a-ind lightsabers under the guidance of the Gatherers. The shop carries a collection of unusual parts and pieces, kyber crystals and more! The cost to build a lightsaber starts at $199.99 and requires a reservation which can be made online up to 180 days in advance!
Last but not least, if you’ve had visions of having your own droid then make those reservations for the Droid Depot! Here guests can create your very own R-series or BB-series astromechs using droid parts and pieces that come out on a conveyor belt. Once all the customizations have come together your new sidekick can be controlled by remote control!
Droid Personality Chips May Be Changed
Since we’re on the topic of droids, we also thought we’d let you in on a very special quick tip. When you make your droid, they are customized with personality affiliation chips. This choice allows them to be fighters for the Resistance, pledge their loyalty to the First Order and more! Best of all, those droids with personality chips will react to the planet of Batuu in different ways! Droids can even interact with each other. But for those that aren’t happy with the personality of the droid you created -not to worry. New personality chips can be purchased!
Capture the Magic With PhotoPass Photos:
While strolling around Black Spire Outpost be sure to ask cast members about unique spots where PhotoPass Photographers can capture all the magic of your visit to a Galaxy Far, Far Away! From posing in front of the Millennium Falcon to Magic Shots featuring droids, porgs and more- there’s no shortage of inspiration for capturing that perfect holiday photo! You can even enjoy unlimited downloads of all of the photos taken during your visit with one of Disney’s Memory Maker packages. For $169 if purchased in advance, all of the photos snapped by photographers during your getaway will be available for you to copy and save. Day passes are also available. For more info on MemoryMaker, check out this article.
Bonus Tip- Enhance Your Visit to Galaxy’s Edge With the Play Disney Parks Mobile App:
During your visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, your mobile device will turn into your very own Star Wars: Datapad. You can use your Datapad to translate Aurebesh, tune into satellite dishes to eavesdrop on secret conversations, scan the contents of cargo grates throughout Batuu, and even interact with droids and other scenes in the land. Datapads even have multi-player games that can be used in the queues for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This makes the wait in line a whole new adventure for the entire family. The Play Disney Parks App is FREE to download!
