Disney Airlines? Company Rep Confirms Its Just a Rumor
A couple of weeks ago we here at MickeyBlog posted about a rumor making the rounds on various blogs and even picked up by some news sites that Disney was considering getting into the airline business.
Here at MickeyBlog, our imaginations were immediately captivated by a story which said that the Walt Disney Company would be launching its own airline for Disney World in 2021 offering flights to major hubs like LaGuardia, Chicago, Detroit and Los Angeles. Furthermore the rumors suggested that the planes would be themed, characters would be on board and that there would be no baggage fees for onsite resort guests.
Sound too good to be true? It was.
According to a recent piece on Orlando Weekly, Stephanie Christine Corzett, director of external communications and media relations for Disney said “I can confirm that there is no truth at all to these rumors.”
The rumor seemed to have originated from blog JustDisney which last month claimed that they had ‘ears’ on the inside that the airline was being developed which would include inflight Disney+ access, Disney music over the loudspeakers as you board and would feature planes wrapped with iconic Disney and Marvel images (like the Dumbo-themed jet Disney collaborated with Sprit on- see above.)
While the prospect of flying the friendly skies with Disney sounds like a dream come true, sadly it looks like it will remain just a pipe dream!
