What Resorts Are On Disney World’s New Skyliner Route?
What Disney World’s Skyliner transportation system is officially open. For those planning ahead for a Late 2019 or Early 2020 Disney getaway, positioning yourself at one of the resorts on this new route can add extra comfort and convenience to you magical Disney stay. With that in mind, we thought we’d give you a quick rundown on places to stay to benefit from Disney World’s newest mode of transportation.
What is the Skyliner?
For those that haven’t heard, Disney’s Skyliner System is cable car/gondola system that offers panoramic views of Walt Disney World Resort while connecting guests to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. As we recently reported, the system is nearing completion and tests have already been underway across Disney World. Many of the gondolas will feature graphics based on Disney films, attractions and characters including “Beauty & the Beast,” “Frozen,” “Lilo & Stitch,” “Moana,” “Peter Pan,” Ralph Breaks the Internet,” and “Zootopia.” Using the system will be free as part of Disney’s resort transportation system.
At Epcot, a Skyliner Station will be located at the International Gateway easily connecting guests to the World Showcase, the Epcot Resorts and Disney’s Boardwalk Area. The station’s design will be in keeping with the European Pavilions including Art Noveau wall murals, classic steel lines and metal canopies. At Hollywood Studios the gondola station will be located near the parks entrance and will feature the main gate’s retro red and turquoise color scheme.
Skyliner Resorts
The following Walt Disney World Resorts will be positioned on Disney World’s new Skyliner system offering transportation to Hollywood Studios and Epcot:
1.Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
This moderate resort is our top pick for those looking to take advantage of Disney’s Skyliner transportation options. Not only has the resort recently completed an extensive renovation to guest rooms, restaurants and central amenities but the property will also house a Skyliner transfer station making it a breeze to get to and from the other resorts on the line as well as the theme parks. We are told the station will be fashioned in a style in keeping with the island vibes of the resort. Coming in as one of the more affordable moderate resorts and with fantastic new options like waterfront dining, your Disney dollars will go a long way once the Skyliner system is open.

2. Disney’s Pop Century Resort
This Value Property has long been a firm favorite for adults visiting Walt Disney World looking for Value accommodation and it’s easy to understand why. This fun and colorful property has undergone a complete renovation of all guest rooms. You’ll love the modern look and feel of the new rooms featuring contemporary decor, hard floors and a modernized bathroom. At Value Prices, you also won’t be able to beat the fact that you can head to two of Disney’s amazing theme parks without having to use the resort buses. Pop Century shares a lake with Disney’s Art of Animation Resort dubbed Hourglass Lake. A gondola station will be situated on the lake whisking guests from both properties to the theme parks. For those looking for the most affordable accommodation on the Skyliner line, make this your go-to option as rooms here are usually in the $150 a night range and are regularly included in Disney discounts.
3. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
This is one of Walt Disney World’s newest resort and is the most DIsney-themed with sections styled after films like “The Little Mermaid,” “The Lion King,” “Cars” and “Finding Nemo.” This is also a popular option for larger families as the adorably themed family suites can accommodate families of up to 6 and offer awesome amenities like 2 bathrooms, a kitchenette and lounge/dining areas. The resort also offers standard Little Mermaid themed guest rooms that are popular with princess fans of all ages. Guests looking for a cross between value and deluxe accommodation or who want to be completely immersed in the world of Disney animation will love this spot. As mentioned above, there will also be a Skyliner station on the shores of Hourglass Lake making it easy for guests staying here to get to the other Skyliner Resorts as well as Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
4. Disney’s Riviera Resort
This is Disney’s newest Deluxe Villa Resort which will begin welcoming guests and Disney Vacation Club Members later this year! For those looking for luxury accommodation and also access to the Skyliner this is the perfect choice. This stunning resort draws its inspiration from Walt’s visit to Europe and will offer amazing eats, a dazzling pool area, gorgeous guest rooms and more!. The property will offer a range of options including Studios, as well as 1 and 2 bedroom villas. This property is sure to rival the monorail resorts for quick and easy access to the theme parks! When Should I Visit If I Want to Use the Skyliner?
Disney has not revealed an exact opening date for Skyliner as of yet though they are holding firm to their Fall 2019 time frame. Guests visiting in the Fall may be able to take advantage of Skyliner. However, there is no guarantee this system may be up and running during your dates until Disney makes an official announcement. For those planning a 2020 getaway, it is expected the service will be fully operational during that time.
