Ultimate Guide to Golfing at Walt Disney World
When traveling on vacation to Walt Disney World, most people think about the amazing rides and attractions they’ll get to go on. They’ll also imagine which characters they will get to meet and amazing food they will eat! Many people are surprised to find out the Walt Disney World resort has so much more than just that. Most people don’t know golfing at Walt Disney World is an option!
There is lots of shopping, entertainment, and outdoor activities aside from just the parks! One of my favorite activities to partake in at Walt Disney World is golf. Disney has four amazing courses that are so tucked away, you may not have ever known they existed!
Golfing at Walt Disney World
Golfing at Walt Disney World feels like your normal game of golf, with just a hint of Disney. You’ll be driving around in your cart and suddenly see a hidden Mickey right where you are about to tee off! As you golf at different Walt Disney World golf courses, you’ll notice that it’s not only the little hints of magic that make the golfing experience uniquely Disney. It’s also the great guest service.
From the moment you pull up to the parking lot, you already have someone opening your trunk. They’ll help you get your clubs out of the car too. The moment you’re ready to leave, the cast members are shining your clubs and loading you into a golf cart to drive you back to your car. They know it’s been a long, hot day and they want you to be in your air conditioned car as soon as possible, without having to make the walk!
The 4 Courses
The four main golf courses at Walt Disney World are Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course, Disney’s Palm Golf Course, Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, and Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course. Disney’s Magnolia, Palm, and Oak Trail Golf Courses are located at the Shades of Green Resort, across the street from the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa near Magic Kingdom park.
If you are headed out of Magic Kingdom, you may pass one of the holes on your right side! Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is located at Disney’s Saratoga Springs resort and is walking distance from Disney Springs. After a long game of golf, it’s great to be able to take a quick walk to Disney Springs for a good bite to eat!
No Carts Allowed! Well, Only On This One Course
Out of these four courses, Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course is the only course that is strictly walking, no carts allowed. It is also only 9 holes, compared to the other three golf courses that have the complete 18 holes. All four courses have the Arnold Palmer course design.
The amazing thing about these golf courses is that even though you are at Walt Disney World, you feel like you are truly engulfed in nature. You can’t hear any cars driving by, and for the most part you don’t see any buildings around either. It’s just you and nature, and of course all the wildlife!
All the Benefits
All you see is trees and swamps, and occasionally a deer or alligator! Another plus about these golf courses is that they are not crowded. I’ve rarely ever had to book a tee time on the phone. I always just show up, and they are ready for me to get started! What’s nice is that you end up having the course to yourself and you get to relax and enjoy it. Nobody likes having to rush to get through a hole because of the group behind you that keeps catching up!
Each golf course has a pro-shop full of Disney golf gear. From polos with your favorite Disney character embroidered in the corner, to a club cover with Mickey Mouse on it. Even little ball markers that say Walt Disney World. If you can imagine the golf accessory, there is a high chance Disney has it with some sort of character on it.
Hungry?
Along with the golf shop, each course also has a little quick service restaurant. They also have a cart constantly driving from hole to hole throughout the day, serving food while you’re on the course. You’ll never have to worry about getting hungry!
So what are you waiting for? If you are at Walt Disney World often and have never played on one of these courses, go get out there and experience what golfing Disney style is like! If you’ve never played and are too nervous to begin on a full sized course, Disney also offers two mini golf locations.
They are fun for the whole family! Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course celebrates Christmas, winter, and summer every day, while Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course is a thrilling challenge filled with Disney magic.
Golfing at Walt Disney World is so much fun! Definitely give it a go on your next Disney vacation! You’ll be glad you did!
