This Week! In Star Wars: Books, ILMxLAB & More
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: I love Thursday. Mostly because of “This Week! In Star Wars.”
Today, Kristin Baver gave “The Baver Bunch” plenty of new Star Wars goodness to mull over as we wait for updates from San Diego Comic-Con (and elsewhere).
Firstly, let’s get you up to speed with some “poo doo” news.
And that said, let’s get into the more “wizard” stuff:
Star Wars: The High Republic Exclusive Look, Comic-Con@Home Star Wars Panels, and More!
This week in Star Wars, we get an exclusive look at some brand new characters and concept art from the Star Wars: The High Republic publishing program, grab some snacks for Comic-Con@Home’s Star Wars panels at home, and take a closer look at some new concept art from ILMxLAB’s Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge. Plus, we take a trip back to 1978 when Star Wars was re-released in theaters with a new line of dialogue from C-3PO.
New Character Looks
Now, we got some new views of characters coming to Star Wars books:
Star Wars at Comic-Con
And we get a nod toward the panels featuring Star Wars at Comic-Con@Home.
The fine folks at Space.com pulled together a LOT of great info here and my early pick is:
Friday, July 24 | 10:00 AM PDT (1:00 PM EDT/1700 GMT)
The Mandalorian and His Many Gadgets
From tracking fobs and jetpacks to wrist rockets and flamethrowers, a panel of sci-fi writers and science experts will examine every day carry of the most well-equipped bounty hunter in the “Star Wars” universe.
The full official schedule may be found here.

Then C3PO said….
And, finally, Ms. Baver cleared up a little bit of my own history, explaining that there was a second run of the original Star Wars in 1978, which ended in November.
This explains why I can remember my first viewing of Star Wars, which I now believe to be on a cold day in Nov. 1978 (at almost four-years-old) while wearing a knit cap that I pulled down like a blast shield; rather than my first viewing being as a two-year-old and wearing that hot hat during the summer (and, well, remembering anything at 2).
Small victories. But, anyway, the line that was added to the second run of the original Star Wars was:
“The tractor beam is coupled to the main reactor in seven locations….”
Toys At Target
And, we also got another look at the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge toys from Target.
#MTFBWY all.
See you next, Thursday.
