Star Wars: Squadrons – Pilots Wanted
So, we’ve been watching this one for a while. EA remains rumored to have a new Star Wars game since it leaked a few months ago.
Then, this morning, it seems as if a new leak might have forced the hand of EA Star Wars.
Star Wars: Squadrons Leaks
Over at Spieltimes, Pingal wrote:
A new Star Wars Game, titled, Star Wars: Squadrons has leaked via Microsoft Store. Currently, the game has its dedicated slider [above] with one image and a pre-order button.
When clicked on the pre-order button, however, the website gives you a “Page not found” error. The slider says “Pilots wanted” which could mean it’s for beta-testing purposes.
People are guessing it’s the new Maverick Project [see photo above]. Rumors said the game will likely be revealed this week, and it seems like, we’re getting new information very soon.
Pilots Wanted
“Very soon” was, well, very soon.
Pilots Wanted. Tune in for the reveal trailer of #StarWarsSquadrons this Monday, June 15th at 8:00 AM Pacific Time: https://t.co/ULwkIhQy2y pic.twitter.com/L0Z3jC2c3j

And the link goes to a YouTube premiere link:
The only verbiage stating: Tune in June 15, 8AM PT, to get briefed.
CNN.com (?) reported the story:
The image, which originally debuted early via the official Xbox website, was accompanied by the tagline “Pilots wanted.” Unfortunately, there aren’t any additional details about what the game will include at this time, but this early image suggests, it could be the starship battle-laden Star Wars: Project Maverick that was originally seen via leaks. Those stem from a leak on the PlayStation Store in March. Going by the name alone, it’s possible Star Wars: Squadrons may be the next evolution of the Rogue Squadron [see photo above] series. We’ll have to wait and see.
Gee, sounds familiar. But hey, we’re getting a new Star Wars spaceship shooter and I am all for it.
Of course, my tastes in Star Wars video games goes back to the original Atari color vector graphics arcade cabinet and sit down game.
Don’t knock it until you try it; it was harder than you think/remember. Especially when the girders start showing up on the trench run, Nevermind when the towers and bunkers start firing at you during the third wave.
“Use the Force, Luke!”
Of course, getting to play the Rogue Squadron game at home was pretty cool, too.
Blowing up in that game was brutal.
Here’s hoping the new game has a playable trench run level, too. However, the mission I really want to try again is “shooting wamp rats back in my T-16 back home….”
Yes. Yes, I am a gigantic nerd.
