Frozen Yoga and Other Fun Ways to Entertain Your Children Right Now
Are you and your kids spending a lot of time at home now or in the near future? If so, something you’ll quickly realize is that you need some new activities for bored children.
Otherwise, you’ll never get anything done. Luckily, Disney entertainment doubles as a terrific babysitter. Here are six fun ways to entertain your children right now.
Frozen Yoga
You heard me. It’s yoga…based on the movie, Frozen. You’re already intrigued, right?
Cosmic Kids, an extremely popular YouTube channel with more than 600,000 subscribers, tells stories through yoga. A few years ago, Jaime invented a full yoga routine based on everyone’s favorite characters from Arendelle.
Suffice to say that Jaime really gets into her storytelling session. If you show this to your kids, you’ll keep them entertained for 30 minutes. Plus, they’ll learn the basic principles of yoga!
Your kids will get a bit of exercise, a happy bonus. Who knows? They might even enjoy the session so much that they want to do it multiple times and become yoga fans! If so, you could try Moana Yoga, too!
In fact, there’s even Star Wars Yoga!
Build a Disney Community on Animal Crossing
Admittedly, not everyone can do this. However, those of you who own a Nintendo Switch should buy Animal Crossing for your kids immediately if you haven’t already done so. The Switch has become the third-best-selling Nintendo console ever, with 52 million units purchased through January of 2020.
During the Coronavirus stay-at-home edict, Switches have become the most challenging electronic items to find in stock because they’re so fun. While I fully understand that some parents are reluctant to let their kids play videogames, let’s be honest. Smartphones and tablets are gaming devices, too. This generation of kids has raised in a gamer’s world.
You might as well lean into this fact by letting them do something educational. And yes, Animal Crossing qualifies. The economic system in place teaches the kids how to manage a budget, and it also shows that hard work leads to additional financial benefits.
From a Disney perspective, people can design towns based on their favorite characters. Similarly, players can make a Princess dress, as this video shows:
My wife is an unashamed Animal Crossing zealot, and it’s kept her sane during these trying times. It’s a child-friendly game that you can safely give your kids and trust that it will help them manage the strange days.
Experience Disney Rides Online
Have you followed MickeyBlog’s recent theme park adventures? We’ve recently visited EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Magic Kingdom. We somehow managed this without ever leaving the comfort of our homes.
Thanks to the efforts of YouTube streamers like Josh and Jenna at ResortTV1, we have our choice of ride videos of all our favorites. All your kids need is internet access, and they can watch anything that they love from the Disney parks.
Watching park videos is a therapeutic way for you to remember why you love your vacations. For kids, it’s a way to remember the excitement of a Disney trip as well as discover new rides that they’ve never done before.
In fact, MickeyBlog will soon post a park day that’s entirely international! We won’t need our passports to enjoy some of the best rides at other Disney theme parks outside the United States!
Pick a New Hobby
I started this article by talking about yoga. Plenty of other hobbies could provide some beneficial long-term benefits to your kids. If that happens, you’ve turned the current negative into a positive.
So, take this opportunity to explore some ideas that appeal to your kids. D-23 has kindly provided a list of 11 different Disney movies that provide hobby suggestions. Now, I wouldn’t recommend fencing while everyone’s stuck inside, and sailing is impossible at the moment. Still, ideas like illustrations, scrapbooking, and cooking are all terrific suggestions.
This idea dovetails with the last one, as you can pick some of D-23’s suggested flicks to stream. Then, notice which ones trigger your kids and adapt hobby ideas from that information!
Story Time
Some of the suggestions here don’t require any parental attention. However, the best ones do. After all, your kids matter to you more than anything else. You should think of the current events as a rare and profound opportunity to develop a deeper bond with your kids.
One of the best ways to achieve this goal comes through stories. For thousands of years now, parents have passed down tales and fables to their kids.
Even now, in this technologically advanced era, storytime still embodies the best possible means of communicating with your kids.
Take the Disney animated movie that you love the best. Then, describe it to your kids in your own way. Live out some of the events to add a bit of energy, and get your kids involved.
Imagine that you’re operating your own version of Enchanted Tales with Belle. Your children will delight in this rare opportunity to become a part of a real Disney adventure.
Watch Disney+
Look, I could list any number of available activities that will entertain your children. However, I can’t ignore the obvious one. Disney+ unlocks tens of thousands of hours of content for Disney fans.
In recent days, Disney+ has added Frozen 2 several months of schedule. By the end of this week, Onward will become available, too. Those are A-list titles that would have cost your family $50 or more to watch in theaters.
For $6.99, you can watch both in your home as often as you want! I have a friend whose daughter has made him watch Frozen 2 for 12 straight days. That’s Parent of the Year material right there. However, those of you who could use a break from parenting should see the benefit of this. That’s 100 minutes of free babysitting each day!
Hey, Disney entertainment helped to raise us. Why shouldn’t we let it raise the next generation of kids, too?
