Giancarlo Esposito Talks Possible ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Return
Despite the fact that Moff Gideon was seemingly killed at the end of The Mandalorian Season 3, Giancarlo Esposito is holding out hope that his Star Wars story is not yet over.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Esposito was asked about the possiblity that he could reprise his role as the imperial officer in the upcoming film The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Previously, Esposito stated that he would be more than happy to return to Star Wars. Luckily, it doesn’t sound like that sentiment has changed.
Esposito Says If ‘Star Wars’ Needs Him, He Will Be There
During the interview, Esposito admitted that he had not heard anything about his character’s future. Still, if Lucasfilm called, he would answer.
“Anything is possible. I don’t know anything about that at present, but I put out there that if they need me, I’ll be there,” he said.
“I love what Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Disney does with Mandalorian, and who knows? There may be a moment where I can swoop down and take over once again.”
Could Moff Gideon Return?
While Moff Gideon has been the driving antagonist throughout the first three seasons of The Mandalorian, it appears as if his time has come to an end. With Grand Admiral Thrawn now back in the known universe, there may be a new heir to the empire.
Still, Moff Gideon has been deeply involved in cloning. So perhaps Esposito could return after all.
For now, fans will have to wait until The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters on May 22, 2026, to see what happens next!
