Sigourney Weaver Is Reportedly Getting Ready to Make the Jump Into Star Wars For ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’
Sigourney Weaver is set to return to space. However, this time, she won’t be fighting off Xenomorphs but doing battle in a galaxy far, far away.
According to a report from The InSneider, Weaver is gearing up to join the Star Wars universe for the upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu.
The film is expected to hit theaters on May 22, 2026, marking the first time that a new Star Wars film has hit the big screen since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
Plot Details Remain Unclear
While The Mandalorian and Grogu will continue the story of Din Djarin and his child from the popular Disney+ series The Mandalorian, the plot of the upcoming film remains unclear.
What we do know is that Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau will be directing the film, as well as producing it alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni. Production on the film is expected to begin later this year.
Weaver’s role in The Mandalorian and Grogu remains unclear at this time, as is whether or not the veteran actress will play a recurring role in the broader Star Wars universe.
Weaver Adds Another Franchise to Her Resume
With experience in blockbuster franchises like Alien and Avatar, Weaver should have no problem acclimating to the pop culture giant that is Star Wars.
Hopefully, as we get closer to the kickoff of production on The Mandalorian and Grogu, we will learn more about the film’s plot and the role that Weaver will be playing.
