Photos: Construction on Niue Longhouse at Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Most Disney fans know that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been under construction for over a year now.
What you may not know is that other areas of the Polynesian – like its centrally located Niue longhouse – are also enjoying a bit of extra pixie dust.
On a recent visit to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, our team noticed construction crews hard at work. Let’s check it out!
Polynesian’s Niue Longhouse Gets A Refresh
At Disney’s Polynesian Resort, green fencing blocks off pathways to the resort’s centrally located Niue longhouse.
Located between the Great Ceremonial House, the Somoa Longhouse, and the Rarotonga Longhouse, Niue is a smaller building known for its convenient location.
MickeyBlog reporters spotted construction crews and machinery along both sides of the building.
The scope of the project is unclear, but our guess is that the work is limited to the exterior only. Disney’s Polynesian Village resort received a Moana-inspired room refurbishment in 2021, making interior work unlikely at this time.
There has been no word from Disney on a completion date or whether the work will continue on to other buildings.
When Will Construction End at Disney’s Polynesian?
In a place as magical as Walt Disney World, construction is required for everyday maintenance and maximum safety. But it’s also required for all the exciting new offerings that Disney fans love!
Between ongoing construction at the new Polynesian DVC tower and the construction at the Niue longhouse, a whole lot is happening at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort right now!
So… when will all the construction end?
While we don’t know when the work will be finished on the Niue longhouse, the Polynesian’s new DVC tower is slated to open in late 2024.
