Orlando International Airport to Get $50 Million Grant From Federal Aviation Administration
Sky’s the limit over at Orlando International Airport with the recent announcement that MCO will receive a $50 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration. According to a piece in the Orlando Sentinel, the grant is part of an airport assistance program that came out of last year’s infrastructure act.
As the Sentinel tells us, today’s announcement makes the airport one of the top grant recipients. The FAA is doling out grants totaling $1 billion to be distributed across 85 airports.
So what will the funds go toward? According to the Sentinel, Orlando International Airport will be using the funds to ready the South Terminal which is slated to open at the airport in September 2022.
The grants were designed to help airports expand or improve their terminals, upgrade air traffic control towers, enhance access and more.
