The Monorail at Walt Disney World to Reopen on July 11 with Limited Service
As we reported earlier today, the Disney Skyliner at Walt Disney World is set to resume service on July 15. We are also happy to report that the iconic Monorail will resume operations on July 11, albeit with limited service.
When the Monorail resumes service on July 11, it will only include the Magic Kingdom loop since the Magic Kingdom is reopening on that date. Both express service as well as resort service, including Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as well as their Disney Vacation Club (DVC) counterparts, will see service resume.
While EPCOT is set to reopen on July 15, Walt Disney World has not yet confirmed if/when the EPCOT loop will resume service. If the EPCOT loop doesn’t open by July 15, those staying at one of the Monorail Resorts or their DVC counterparts, can take buses to the Park.
Update on transportation at WDW:
Monorail (MK) set to open on July 11. Monorail (EPCOT) does not currently have an opening date.
Skyliner set to open on July 15.
Resort boats at Poly/Wilderness open July 11.

Scott Gustin on Twitter (@ScottGustin) is reporting that boat transportation will also be available for Guests staying at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, Disney Copper Creek Villas & Cabins, and Disney’s Boulder Ridge Villas beginning on July 11. It is unknown when boat service will resume for Guests staying at Bay Lake Tower and The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
As one can expect, just like Walt Disney World buses and bus stops, social distancing partitions will be installed on Monorails and Monorail platforms when they resume service.
For me, the Monorail is my favorite form of transportation for getting around the Walt Disney World Resort. I am excited for it to resume service on July 11 when the Parks begin welcome Guests again!
