Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Opening Date Announced
The time has arrived! Just moments ago, Galaxy’s Edge opening date was announced. Prepare to explore a galaxy far, far away at Disneyland Resort in California beginning May 31, 2019 and August 29, 2019
This is going to be SO exciting!
New Attractions
Upon opening, guests will be able to enjoy two brand new attractions- Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run will bring guests inside Han Solo’s famous ship for a simulated ride throughout the galaxy. Riders will be flying, flipping switches, and shooting blasters as they control the ship on their own. The ending of the ride will be determined by your performance aboard the Millennium Falcon. If the ship returns “banged up” you may be on the list of Harko (a bounty hunter) and that may land you in trouble if you show your face at the local cantina.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will place guests in the midst of a battle between the Resistance and the First Order. Guests will step aboard a Resistance troop transport ship but are quickly captured by a Star Destroyer. Time to make your great escape! Imagineers have described this experience as the most epic attraction ever designed.
New Restaurants
Feeling famished? Guests will have a variety of locations where they can stop and refuel. Oga’s Cantina (the local watering hole), welcomes visitors with a menu stocked with exotic ingredients.
Not far from the Cantina is Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, a quick service restaurant with a variety of options. Ronto Roasters will serve flame-roasted meats (cooked by a former smelter droid). The Milk Bar will serve up the iconic blue and green milk as seen in the Star Wars films. Kat Saka’s Kettle will also have a variety of quick snacks including a sweet and salty Outpost Mix.
New Characters
While fans will continue to see some of their favorites such as Chewbacca and Bb-8, a few new characters will make their debuts. Nein Nunb (a rebel alliance pilot from Return of the Jedi) and Hondo Ohnaka (space pirate from Star Wars: Rebels) will both make appearances. Check out the bathroom water fountains and you might spot a dianoga (the eyeball creature from A New Hope) in the pipes, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
