6 Tips For Turning Rainy Days Into Magical Visits at Disneyland
When it comes to visiting Disneyland Resort, having a bit of rain in the forecast can happen any time of year. However, visitors to the “Happiest Place on Earth” shouldn’t let this put a damper on your Disney days. In fact, many Disney regulars consider a rainy day one of the best times to explore and enjoy the parks without the crowds. To help you get the most out of your rainy day adventure here are some helpful tips!
1. Prepare for Rainy Weather
When packing for your Disneyland getaway, its always good to bring along comfortable, warm clothing just in case the weather takes a turn for the worse. It’s also good to bring along water-resistant footwear and to keep extra pairs of socks in your park bag. I also like to head to the dollar stores and stock up on cheap ponchos that can be easily stowed in bags, purses or pants pockets. But don’t worry if you get caught out in an unexpected shower. Merchandise locations throughout the park carry ponchos and umbrellas.
2. Enjoy Your Favorite Indoor Disney Attractions
When the rain hits, it pays to have a bit of a rainy day plan. Highlight in advance a few or your favorite indoor attractions so you know where you are going to head should you get an unexpected shower. There are numerous indoor attractions where you can have fun but also stay dry. A couple of our favorites include Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland and Soarin’ Around the World in Disney California Adventure. To help you with your planning here is a full list of indoor attractions at both parks.
3. Ride Your Favorite Attractions Again and Again
Rainy days often mean smaller crowds which in turn means shorter wait times for your favorite attractions. Don’t forget to use your Disneyland App for a complete list of attraction across both parks including wait times.
4. Head Indoors for Some Amazing Eats
Rainy weather is the perfect time to sit back, unwind and enjoy one of Disneyland Resort’s amazing eateries. Some of our favorites include the Cajun and Creole cuisine you’ll find at Blue Bayou in New Orleans Square at Disneyland and Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast at Storyteller’s Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Dining reservations can be made in advance via the Disneyland App on Disneyland.com or by calling 714.781.DINE.
5. Take In a Show
Stay warm and try in one of Disneyland’s incredible theaters and enjoy great entertainment. Sit back and enjoy “Frozen – LIve at the Hyperion” in Disney California Adventure or get a brief history lesson by Honest Abe during Great Moments with Mr Lincoln in Disneyland park.
6. Shop for Disney Souvenirs
Rainy days are the perfect time to explore Disneyland’s recently re-imagined World of Disney store at Downtown Disney. The store’s new layout features uniquely themed areas showcasing the latest Disney merchandise. But that’s not all! At Downtown Disney you can also immerse yourself in a hyper-reality adventure at The VOID choosing either Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire and Ralph Breaks VR.
So next time you’re at Disneyland, don’t let the rain get you down. Maximize your visit and stay dry with our rainy day tips.
