Kick back with “Donald’s Pacific Wings” and learn about our favorite duck (and studio) in World War II…
So, you take some vodka, lemonade, sparkling wine, strawberries, and basil leaves (?) and somehow you get wings. Er, Donald’s Pacific Wings.
Then, and if you care to, you can enjoy this unique drink while learning how PFC Donald Fauntleroy Duck contributed to the United States war effort during World War II.
[D]id you know Disney worked directly with the US government to support the war effort during WWII?
Co-presented by The Walt Disney Family Museum, located in San Francisco’s Presidio, join us for June’s Spies & Spymasters Happy Hour as we dive into the little-known intersection between Disney and the shadow world.

Spy Museum’s Exhibition and Programs team members Andrew Hammond and Shana Oltmans will be joined by The Walt Disney Family Museum’s Exhibition Curator, Kent Ramsey as our two museums combine their bicoastal forces to explore what Donald Duck had to do with the war, why propaganda is considered a covert action, and other creative morale operations at play in WWII.

Moreover, the ongoing exhibition in San Francisco tells the expansive story of a “unique period in animation history… [a period when] The Walt Disney Studios functioned as a morale-builder for both the civilian public and deployed Allied troops.
“Walt knew that cartoons would be an ideal medium for communicating with the American people—in an uncomplicated and amusing manner—about war-related issues and anxieties,” explains WaltDisney.org. “In addition to the short films and military insignia produced, Disney characters appeared in a variety of home-front initiatives…”

“The exhibition includes 550 examples of these rare historical objects and film clips.”
Happy Hour
Thirdly, San Francisco isn’t getting any closer — even during what’s presumed to be the closing moments of the pandemic. However, this unique partnership brings this important piece of Disney (and US history) home.

Meanwhile, the Lost & Found Bar seems to be a less than silent partner in the whole endeavor. They provide the drink recipe for the suggested accompaniment.
