Incredible Reasons to Visit Aulani Resort this Winter
This year has been anything but expected. However, one of the things that I do expect is a wonderful time at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawaii all year round and especially in the winter.
With the resort starting a phased reopening today (November 1st, 2020), I thought I would share my top reasons to visit Aulani Resort this winter.
Location, Location, Location
I am not sure about you, but at a certain point during the winter months, I start feeling cooped up. With even more time spent inside my house this year – looking at the same “home office”, the same driveway, the same bedroom – I begin dreaming of a place with limitless ocean views, beautiful sunsets and that fresh “you’re on vacation” smell.
Enter Aulani Resort.
While I wish I could pump “vacation” smell to you like an at-home ride on Soarin, the next best thing is listening to the ocean waves crashing into Aulani Resort’s beach.
Seriously, nothing beats island living. Pure relaxing oceanfront magic, all year round… and did I mention that these waves are a perfect 76+ degrees now through the spring? Go ahead and check – I will watch that waves video again while I am waiting.
Additionally, Aulani Resort is conveniently located near three of the top destinations on O’ahu – Honolulu, Waikiki and Kailua and the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL). With shopping shuttles and car rentals available in the hotel, there is nothing keeping you from amazing shopping, dining, sightseeing and cultural activities!
So Much to Do!
This year I have checked off most boxes for stay-at-home and local activities. Luckily, and despite the phased reopening with modified amenities, Aulani Resort has a TON to do both in walking distance and around the island!
Take a look at that Waikolohe valley, packed with water features!
From infinity edge pools to water slides to an interactive water play structure – my fingers are getting wrinkled just thinking about swapping my Zoom meetings for a lazy river raft.
If you are more of a terrestrial vacationer, Aulani Resort sits inside a gated community called Ko Olina. This luxury resort area has 642 acres of ocean front property with a ton of activities, dining and shopping in walking distance.
Just across the street is an 18-hole champion golf course. Beautiful all year round, it features water features, multi-tiered greens, large landing areas – perfect for beginners, experts and vacationers looking to enjoy the gorgeous winter greens.
My favorite is a 4.7 mile running path with sweeping views of the ocean. You begin at the foot of Aulani Resort’s beach access and run around the three lagoons down to the Ko Olina Marina with water fountains and bathrooms spread along the way.
It is the perfect way to burn off that Mickey Shave Ice!
Best Weather of the Year!
Speaking of ice, the aforementioned Mickey Shaved variety will be the only chilly thing about traveling to Aulani Resort during the winter. Pull up your favorite weather app and check out the forecast in the 96707 – it is the perfect 80° beach weather all winter long!
It’s no wonder that so much of what I love to do at Aulani Resort is outdoors, with the summer humidity in the past, all you are left with is bight sunshine, cool ocean breezes and the refreshing spray of the ocean.
So be sure to pack your swimsuits and sunscreen. You won’t want to miss this chance to work on your new year’s tan!
A True Paradise
As you look out of your potentially snow covered window right now, picture this beautiful island vista with a warm aloha infused breeze bring the smells of the ocean up to your lanai.
You are just steps away from a relaxing dip in one of the numerous whirlpool spas.
Let’s swap that snow parka for a bathing suit. Grab your favorite beverage and enjoy watching the sunset over a perfectly warm Hawaiian evening in paradise! These are some of the top reasons to visit Aulani Resort this winter!
