Tornado Watch Issued for Disney World and Surrounding Area Until 8PM
Important weather information and updates for Central Florida. A Tornado Watch has been issued for Disney World and the surrounding area until 8PM this evening.
If you have been to Walt Disney World and Orlando these last few days, you know we have been hit pretty hard with rain. MickeyBllog has been closely monitoring the tropical system, which started as a tropical wave and progressed into Tropical Storm Debby.
As of this afternoon, Disney World and the surrounding area have been dealing with thunderstorms and, most recently, a tornado watch.
Weather Updates
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for portions of Central and Northern Florida and parts of Georgia. This watch is in effect until 8 PM this evening and includes the possibility of heavy rain, and damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph.
Thunderstorms are expected to increase with the Outer Banks of Tropical Storm Debby moving closer and impacting the area. As wind strength increases, the potential for tornadoes also increases.
A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in the area. Readers and guests are encouraged to be safe and be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions.
