Fueled By ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’s’ Massive Second Weekend, Disney Crosses $3 Billion at the Box Office
Deadpool & Wolverine continued to dominate the box office this weekend, bringing in another $97 million at domestic theaters.
The film has now grossed $395 million at the domestic box office, making it the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time. The previous record holder was Passion of the Christ ($370 million).

The third Deadpool film has also delivered the eighth-best second weekend ever and the fifth-best second weekend for a Marvel Studios film.
An International Hit
At the international box office, Deadpool & Wolverine has grossed $428.5 million. In its second weekend, the film remained the number one non-local movie in every global market, except Japan, where Inside Out 2 finally opened.

According to Deadline, the film’s biggest international markets have been China ($45.2 million), UK ($42.4 million), Mexico ($32.8 million), Australia ($24.6 million) and Germany ($19.1 million).
Through its second weekend, Deadpool & Wolverine has now grossed $824 million. That number already tops the total run of 2016’s Deadpool ($784 million) and 2018’s Deadpool 2 ($786 million).

The film still trails both Joker ($1.07 billion) and Oppenheimer ($975 million) in total gross for an R-rated movie. However, it now appears that it is just a matter of time before the latest Marvel film takes the crown.
Disney Is Back on Top
Finally, the big second weekend for Deadpool & Wolverine has pushed Disney past the $3 billion mark for the year. This, despite the fact that the studio has only released four films. In addition to the third Deadpool film, Disney has also released the aforementioned Inside Out 2 ($1.555 billion), Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes ($397 million), and The First Omen ($53 million).
After a difficult 2023, Disney has rebounded spectacularly this year and is once again the king of the box office.
