Epcot to be Renamed EPCOT Once Again
As you are aware, there are a ton of changes currently underway at Epcot. And, per the release of new marketing material as well as online sources, it appears that Epcot is going back to the future with a name change. Going forward, the spelling of the park’s name is going back to being spelled in all capital letters as EPCOT.
When Epcot first opened on October 1, 1982, the park was called EPCOT which stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. The name was chosen to keep with Walt Disney’s vision of the Park to keep looking to the future. Then, in 1994 and 1995, the Park changed its name to Epcot ’94 and Epcot ’95, respectively.
Below is how the spelling and capitalization of Epcot appeared on its logo up until today:
And, here is how EPCOT name will appear in all capital letters on the logo after the name change:
It appears Disney has been silently updating the look and name change of Epcot for a little while now. When the Epcot Experience opened last year, the logo reflected the change. The updated park maps also reflect the EPCOT name change as well. The old logo is no longer available as a marketing asset either.

While I like the idea of going back to the original logo, I feel that the previous was much more fun due to the colors. The stark black and boldness of the new/original logo has a very boring feel to me.
