Longtime ESPN Correspondent Ed Werder Has Been Laid Off By the Network
Ed Werder, the longtime ESPN correspondent who covered the NFL and, more specifically, the Dallas Cowboys, has left the network after 26 years.
Werder is the latest network stalwart to leave ESPN, joining the ranks of Max Kellerman, Jeff Van Gundy, Todd McShay, and Suzy Kolber, among others.

In a statement posted on X, Werder indicated that he wanted to continue covering the NFL for another network.
“For 26 years, I’ve had the privilege of reporting on the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys while holding an NFL microphone,” Werder wrote. “But that time is coming to an end. I will immediately begin considering other opportunities to continue my work covering the NFL.”

An ESPN Fixture
Werder has been one of the most consistent faces on ESPN over the last 26 years, often in his role as a Cowboys reporter. In 2017, the correspondent was given an award by the Professional Football Writers of America that earned him a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
“While this marks the end of my partnership with ESPN, I expect to continue working because, as so many studio hosts have proclaimed – and I still devoutly believe – Ed Werder has more,” his statement concluded.

This is not the first time Werder has left the Worldwide Leader in Sports. In 2017, Werder was laid off by the network. He would return two years later.
ESPN Thanks Werder For His Contributions
After the news of Werder’s departure broke, ESPN released a statement thanking the longtime reporter for his contributions to the network.
