New Permits Suggest Tropical Americas Taking Over DinoLand Soon in Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Last year, we found out that Disney was contemplating a big transformation of DinoLand U.S.A. into the Tropical Americas in Animal Kingdom. This was revealed as a Blue Sky project, meaning it was not a definite thing happening, just something Imagineers were brainstorming.
But then, some construction permits were filed for the area and some 3D models were revealed. And now, we’ve got another sign that this project will actually be happening!
Construction Permits Filed for Animal Kingdom
A few more construction permits have been filed by Disney for the DinoLand area of Animal Kingdom, according to Scott Gustin. Back in March, permits revealed plans for a trailer compound, and these new permits are notices that they are actually installing the trailers soon.
New permits were filed today for work on the Tropical Americas-themed land planned for Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In March, wastewater permits revealed plans for a 5-acre WDI trailer compound at AK. The permits specifically name Walt Disney Imagineering as the owner of these plans, so it’s not like these trailers are just extra break areas for current Cast Members. There is going to be some imagineering happening!
Disney wouldn’t install these trailers just for Imagineers to brainstorm, so I think it’s safe to say DinoLand will be transformed into the Tropical Americas we’ve already learned about.
We know that the Tropical Americas will have new Encanto and Indiana Jones experiences in the land, according to Disney’s plans. Disney even showed some of the 3D models being used to develop the area.
Imagineers said that the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico will be one of the “many locals” that the new land will draw inspiration from.
Since Indiana Jones was mentioned, we assume it will be like the one already in Disneyland and replacing the current Dinosaur ride since both rides use the same vehicles and track.
But, we’re probably going to have to wait a bit longer to find out more official details — Disney said more info will be revealed at this year’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, which is happening in August.
