Emilia Clarke Would Like To Revisit Solo’s Qi’ra
Clarke, who recently debuted a new comic book and will soon the MCU via Disney Plus’ Secret Invasion, would like to reprise the role of Qi’ra….
In his review of Solo: A Star Wars Story back in 2018, NPR’s Glen Weldon said of the character Qi’ra:

To say much about the character played by Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke would spoil some of the film’s juicier reveals, but let it suffice to note that she is no distressed damsel in need of rescuing, and she is playing a longer game than the impulsive Solo can comprehend.”
The Long Game
Ah, the long game.
It’s been years that fans of (the now-cult classic) Solo have clamored for a return run on the Falcon, with most of the crew intact, and while further exploring the backstory of Han, Lando, and, well, Qi’ra.

Yes, Qi’ra owns a huge following in Star Wars fandom, and Emilia Clarke has a very big place in many fans’ hearts. Moreover, and recently, Qi’ra returned to the saga via Marvel’s “War of the Bounty Hunters” Star Wars comics arc.
But now, we hear Clarke openly politicking to re-appear in another Star Wars story. No really, Clarke made it very clear she worked very hard on the character and wants to see Qi’ra come back.

Of course, so many of us lamented the placement of the premiere of Solo — in May 2018 — just months after the controversial Skywalker-based The Last Jedi and sandwiched between Luke’s demise and The Rise of Skywalker.
Bob Iger, himself, admitted the placement was in error. And those of us who saw and enjoyed the film in the movie theater believe the second Star Wars anthology film would have fared so much better at Christmastime and with better time to market its intricacies.

That way, and with more cash and cache, we wouldn’t need to wait for the “Queen of Dragons” to shout out her hopes.
Clarke On Qi’ra
But that’s exactly where we are.

“I really had pages about what her life was and what it would be afterwards,” Clarke told The Hollywood Reporter of Qi’ra. “But I’m afraid I’ve heard nothing of [Disney+] being the case, so maybe I’ll just write it and send it to them. I’ll be like, “Hey guys, I’ve got a few ideas.
“She’s the one that has the most unfinished business,” added Emilia.

And, while Clarke is working on a comic series of her own (Mother of Madness), Emelia was thrilled to read about Qi’ra’s return in Marvel Star Wars.
“It means so much,” Clarke revealed to ComicBook.com. “It means the absolute world. I know her backstory. I know her history. Maybe the movie didn’t get to go there, but that was such an honor and a privilege to be part of that universe as an actor.

So then, to see the character actually be taken on to the origin of all of it — bringing it on home to the family in that way — cemented it in a way. I was not expecting to feel as moved as I was by that.”
Here’s hoping some dudes named Filoni and Favreau were moved, too.
