FIRST LOOK: Check Out The Junkanoo-Inspired Outfits Mickey and Friends Will Wear at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point
Earlier this year, the Disney Cruise Line gave fans a sneak peek at the new costumes that Mickey and Minnie will be wearing when guests arrive at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point later this year.
The new threads were designed by acclaimed Bahamian fashion designer Theodore Elyett and inspired by the Bahamian festival Junkanoo!
At the time, Disney teased that we would soon see Theodore’s inspired new looks for Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip ‘n Dale.
Well, I am happy to report that the day has finally come!
Island-Flavored Characters Will Meet Guests Later This Year
With less than two months until Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point welcomes its first visitors, Disney is giving fans a first look at the new costumes that Mickey and his friends will be wearing on the island.
According to Theodore, all eight characters were given looks designed with Junkanoo in mind.
“I envisioned creating a collection that not only highlighted Bahamian culture, but one that also allowed Mickey and his pals to look and feel as though they were comfortably on vacation, island style,” said Theodore. “’Junkanoo Fun in the Sun’ is an exclusive line-up of all things Bahamian, celebrating the beauty of The Bahamas, all tailored to match the varying personalities of Mickey and his pals.”
The costumes are really bright and vibrant!
Between the straw hats, raffia poms, and Bahamian-themed accessories, the characters look great!
