Pixar is Having A Taylor Swift Tortured Poets Department Moment
Today is a very, VERY exciting day because Taylor Swift just released her new album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ Well, it actually turned out to be a surprise double album, to the joy of Swifties like me around the world!
What does this have to do with Disney, you ask? Well, Disney and Pixar have decided to get in on the new album celebrations!
Pixar Celebrates Taylor Swift
Right when the album was released at midnight, Pixar posted a thread on X and a post on Instagram referencing Taylor’s new album. They styled some of her song titles on the new album to their characters, matching the look of the back of Taylor’s album variants for ‘The Tortured Poet’s Department.’
We start out with Sid from Toy Story!

Next, we are down bad with Sadness from Inside Out. Seems fitting, right?
We get an Elemental pic for Taylor’s song ‘But Daddy I Love Him,’ which is actually a reference from Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Disney-Swiftie inception!
Next, Horst from Ratatouille gets the ‘Fresh Out The Slammer’ reference, which makes sense since it’s said in the movie that he’s done some time behind bars!
This is a bit more of an obscure Pixar reference — it’s the Sunny Florida flamingo from the Pixar short Knick Knack.
Next, we’ve got Boo from Monsters, Inc. with ‘Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?’ Well, with a name like that, you should be.
Eve and WALL-E are used for ‘I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can).
These next two emotionally destroyed me and I will be expecting compensation from Pixar, thank you! Carl and Ellie from Up are with ‘loml’ — which in the song is used for both love of my life and loss of my life.
And then, right after, they post this devastating image for ‘I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.’ How dare you, Pixar!!!
Then, we’ve got ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived’ which is Flik’s Version from A Bug’s Life.
Merida gets paired up with ‘The Alchemy,’ which seems fitting…
…and we’ve got Lightning McQueen with ‘The Bolter.’ This song actually even mentions a speeding car, things flashing before your eyes, and going off to the races.
Do note that these are just a fun way to use the song titles with the Pixar characters and do not reflect the actual content of the songs! The songs are incredible, of course, but they dive much deeper into other subjects, so emotionally prepare yourself if you’re going to listen.
Disney Parks also decided to get in on the fun on Instagram with a little Spaceship Earth Tortured Poets moment!
